BEPPE SEVERGNINI è editorialista del «Corriere della Sera» dal 1995, dove ha creato il blog «Italians» (1998) e diretto il settimanale «7» (2017-2019). Opinion writer per «The New York Times» dal 2013 al 2021, è stato corrispondente in Italia per «The Economist» (1996-2003). È stato corrispondente a Londra e Washington Dc; inviato speciale in Russia, Cina, Medio Oriente.
È autore di molti bestseller: il primo è Inglesi (1990), il più recente Socrate, Agata e il future (2025), per diverse settimane #1 in Italia. La traduzione di La testa degli italiani (2005), col titolo La Bella Figura (2006), è diventato un New York Times bestseller. Tutti i suoi titoli sono disponibili in BUR.
È sposato con Ortensia. Il figlio Antonio e Benedetta gli affidano volentieri Agata, che provvede all’educazione del nonno.
Beppe Severgnini is a columnist at Corriere della Sera, Italy’s leading newspaper. Previously, as a foreign correspondent, he was posted in London, Moscow and Washington Dc, and traveled extensively in China and Eastern Europe. He was a contributing opinion writer for The New York Times between 2013 and 2021 and the Italy correspondent for The Economist from 1996 to 2003.
He is the author of twenty books. La Bella Figura: A Field Guide to the Italian Mind (2006, Doubleday) was a New York Times bestseller. His latest book in the USA is Italians Lessons – 50 Things We Know About Life Now (2022, Penguin Random House). Socrate, Agata e il futuro (2025, Rizzoli) was #1 bestseller in Italy for several weeks.
He has been a research fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Isaiah Berlin visiting scholar at Oxford University, a visiting fellow at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice and a visiting lecturer at Politecnico in Milan and University of Pavia, his alma mater.
